A notice to our families

Information on Funerals and COVID-19

To the communities we serve:

As of June 1, 2020, a new set of guidelines regarding COVID-19 has been released from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. The purpose of the new document is to provide guidance for social and public gatherings in Nebraska. Some of the new guidelines are included below.

Gatherings:

  • Gatherings will be limited to the greater of 25 people (excluding staff) or 25% of rated occupancy.
  • Seating in houses of worship should be arranged in such a way as to maintain appropriate social distancing between parties. A “party” should be understood to include members of a household who live together, but should maintain six feet of social distance from other parties.

Funeral Reception Venues:

  • Funeral receptions will be limited to the great of 25 people (excluding staff) or 50% of rated occupancy.
  • Six (6) feet separation between seating of different parties.
  • Maximum of six (6) individuals in a party. Parties that are greater will need to be split into multiple tables.
  • Self-serve buffets and salad bars are prohibited. Venue staff must serve food directly to all individuals.

Nothing is more important to us at Liewer Funeral Homes than the health and safety of the families and communities we serve. We will continue to provide services at this time, but we will modify formats to ensure that all gatherings (funeral service, memorial service, visitation, viewing or graveside service) follow the NDHHS guidelines. Rest assured that we have been receiving regular updates from the Nebraska Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association, and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, regarding new guidelines and guideline changes.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. Thank you.

Sincerely,Mike & Cindy LiewerOwners, Liewer Funeral Homes(308) 882-4642
