Obituary

William Edward Rowley, also known as Bill, passed away on April 27, 2026, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Born on October 1, 1959, in Imperial, NE, Bill lived a life marked by dedication, craftsmanship, and an enduring love for his family.

Bill's early years were deeply rooted in Imperial, where he attended Chase County High School. There he played basketball, earning letters and graduating in 1977. His passion for sports extended beyond his youth, as he was an unwavering supporter of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, proudly sporting red vehicles as a testament to his steadfast loyalty.

He began his professional career as a parts man for John Deere, serving the communities of Imperial and Alliance. Later, he extended his talents to the Dialysis unit at Box Butte General Hospital and ultimately, he dedicated many years to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad, faithfully serving until his retirement in 2021.

Bill was a man of many talents and interests. He loved to build—from cars and trucks to bridges—showcasing his ingenuity. His collections were varied and unique, including Hot Rod magazines dating back to 1987, toy tractors, and even stray pieces of wood that found their way into his creative projects. His meticulous nature was evident in his careful keeping of numerous receipts, stored in countless boxes throughout his home.

Above all, Bill cherished his family. Labor Day Weekend was a special time he eagerly anticipated. He took immense pride in his sons, Jason and Spencer, and delighted in sharing news of their accomplishments. His grandchildren—Will, Stella, Monroe, and Maren—held a special place in his heart, and Bill could never say no to them.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife Lori; his sons Jason and Spencer, along with Spencer’s wife Ashton; and grandchildren Will, Stella, Monroe, and Maren. He also leaves behind his siblings Tom (and wife Lori), Darrell, and Peggy (and husband Mike). His extended family includes his uncle John Pursley, Mary Emma Pursley, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his beloved dog Husker. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie Evelyn and Darrell Rowley; his grandmother Irene Pursley; and his in-laws Junior and Shirley Reeder.

A Celebration of Life honoring Bill’s memory will be held at Zion Lutheran Church located at 1305 Broadway Street, Imperial, NE 69033, on May 2, 2026, beginning at 2:00 PM and concluding at 3:00 PM. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family and friends to remember and celebrate the remarkable life of a man whose kindness, talent, and love will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

William Edward Rowley’s legacy is one of heartfelt devotion to family, a dedicated work ethic, and a life enriched by simple joys and enduring relationships. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lodge of Omaha, NE in care of Liewer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 304 Imperial, NE 69033
