Obituary

Shirley Ann Gardner passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, at the Chase County Hospital in Imperial, NE at the age of 87.

She was born on February 19, 1938, in Imperial, NE to Fred and Ella Bischoff, the youngest of two children with her brother, Marvin.

Shirley graduated from chase county high school in 1954 and went on to attend college studying to become a schoolteacher. Her career led her to teach at numerous schools.

On June 3, 1961, she exchanged vows with her husband, Larry Gardner with the marriage lasting until his death in 2008. To this union they welcomed one daughter, Karla Ann.

After retiring from a rewarding career as a teacher, she enjoyed being part of the Red Hats, dancing on Sunday evenings and having coffee with the girls.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Larry, brother Marvin, and son-in-law Morris Pargas.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Karla Ann and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation to be held at Liewer Funeral Home in Imperial, NE on Sunday, May 18 from 3-5 P.M. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 19 at 11:00 a.m. (MT) at Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial with Pastor Scott Adle officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Imperial.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Imperial Manor “van fund” in memory of Shirley.
