Philip Dean
Schmidt
Jun 6, 1964 — Aug 20, 2026
Lamar, NE
Philip Dean Schmidt, 62, of Lamar, Nebraska, passed away at his home on August 20, 2026. He was born on June 6, 1964, in Greeley, Colorado, to Philip and Jessie (Riggs) Schmidt.
Philip grew up in Akron and Arickaree, CO, and later attended school in Yuma, CO where he graduated from Yuma High School in 1982. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army and later received a medical discharge.
From childhood, Philip dreamed of becoming an over-the-road truck driver, and he was proud to live out that dream. He loved making long hauls and was known for being able to park his truck anywhere with exact precision. His work on the road reflected both his skill and his passion for the life he had always wanted.
When he was not working, Philip enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, and spending time outdoors. In his younger years, he especially enjoyed riding horses with his dad. He was a member of A.B.A.T.E. and the Presbyterian Church.
Philip is survived by his parents; his brother, Mike (Dove); sisters, Toni (Rob) Lee and Joy (Roger) Noakes; his stepchildren, Brandon (Angie) Anderson and Kassey (Jordan) Snyder.
A private family graveside will be held at Lake View Cemetery in Champion, NE. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 29 at the Champion Community Building.
Memorial contributions may be made to his mother, Jessie, for designation later.
