Obituary

PerryLee Thomas Garcia, was born May 11, 1959 in Durango, Colorado, to Charles and Frances (Martinez) Garcia, and passed away on June 29, 2026 in Imperial, Nebraska.

Perry’s life began amidst the scenic beauty of southwestern Colorado, growing up in Durango, he later graduated from Durango High School. Shortly after graduating, Perry joined the Durango Silverton Railroad and later worked for Southern Pacific and ultimately Union Pacific working as a Locomotive Engineer and Manger working throughout Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming for over 43 years. He liked to refer to himself as “The World’s Greatest Engineer!”.

In 1995, Perry met Pandora (Pandy) Zuege in Cripple Creek, CO. The couple married in February of 1996. Of this union, one child was born, Emily Elle Garcia who joined her big brothers, Matthew Garcia and Adam Garcia. Perry was very proud and had so much love for his children.

Perry loved being a father and enjoyed traveling and watching Emily play softball. He enjoyed spending time with Adam and helping with his Brandings. Perry and Matthew enjoyed time together working on projects and just hanging out. He loved spending time outdoors and seeking adventure in Colorado by hiking, kayaking and taking in the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Perry could also be found playing a friendly game of poker amongst friends.

Many of Perry’s days were spent in Imperial, Nebraska, where he enjoyed working in the yard and had the “greenest lawn in town”, this past spring.

Perry is survived by his wife, Pandora; sons, Matthew Perry and Adam Thomas; his brother, Elroy (Marti) Garcia; sisters, Charlene (Tony) Martinez, Tracy Grey, Jacquie Brockus, Jennifer Garcia and many nieces and nephews.

Perry was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Emily and Niece, Teresa Garcia.

Friends are invited to a simple “open house” gathering from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Liewer Funeral Home in Imperial. An additional celebration of life honoring Perry will be held at a later date in Pueblo, Colorado.
