Paul Kunnemann, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and devoted community member of Imperial Nebraska, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 28, 1943 to Clarence and Maye Kunnemann in Imperial, Nebraska, where he spent his life rooted in faith, family, and service. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church on August 1, 1943. He graduated from Chase County High School and furthered his education at Southeast Community College.
Paul grew up in rural Imperial, where he developed a lifelong love for farming and fishing. It was through these passions that he met Lorna Draper, the love of his life. They were united in Holy Matrimony on December 8, 1962 at Zion Evangelical Church in Imperial. Together they built a strong, faith-filled family. Paul and Lorna were blessed with three daughters: Sherri Burke, Cyndi and husband John Langenfeld, and Bobbi and husband Eric Dittler, all of Imperial, Nebraska.
A man of deep commitment to his community, Paul continuously offered comfort and care to those in need. He was a devoted member of the Imperial Ambulance, Chase County Emergency Management, and Imperial Volunteer Fire Department, where his dependability and quiet strength were deeply valued by his fellow volunteers and the wider community.
In addition to his loving daughters, Paul is survived by his cherished grandchildren: Josh Burke (Courtney), Jacci Paisley (Garrett), Jakob Burke (Alex), Coby Langenfeld, Cory Langenfeld (Karley), Katie Langenfeld and Chloe Dittler.
He was further blessed with great-grandchildren who brought him tremendous joy: Krayton, Knox, Koy, and Kollins Paisley; Kendra, Kris, Kaci Burke; Karter Burke; and Asher Langenfeld. As the years passed, he was blessed by his beloved dog, Blaze.
Paul found great joy in the simple things - especially fishing, which brought him peace and connection with nature and loved ones. He spent countless hours giving back to others, especially through his devoted employment at the Imperial Manor. Perhaps his greatest joy in later years came from attending his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren’s school activities, always cheering them on with pride and love.
Paul will be remembered for his gentle heart, steady hands, and the legacy of service, kindness, and family devotion he leaves behind. His impact will continue to be felt by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
Funeral Services for Paul Kunnemann will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 11:00AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial, Nebraska with Pastor Adle officiating.
A memorial has been established in Paul’s memory to the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department.
Paul’s life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
