August 18, 1938-December 22, 2022
Patricia Elaine Waters, 84 years of age, of Windsor, Colorado, previously of Ft. Collins, Colorado, died Thursday, December 22, 2022, at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman, Nebr. She was born August 18, 1938, in Ainsworth, Nebr. to Willard Zahl and Eulah (Linderman) Zahl.
Patricia was raised in the Nebraska Sandhills of Rock and Keya Paha counties and, in 1956, graduated from Rock County High School in Bassett, Nebr., where she received Teachers Normal Training. At age 18 she taught school in rural one room schools, then taught at the elementary school in Newport, Nebr. Patricia studied at Chadron State College, Wayne State College, and Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado. In the late ‘60’s she began working for Poudre R1 School District as the Assistant Media Coordinator. After approximately 30 years, Patricia retired early from Poudre R-1 and became a successful realtor in Ft. Collins and Windsor, Colorado.
Patricia married Kenneth Earl Balcom in 1959. They welcomed a daughter, Rhonda Rae. They subsequently divorced in 1966.
Patricia married Raymond Fredrick Waters in Ft. Collins. Mr. Waters passed away in 1985.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, her sister Carol Haight and brother-in-law Merlyn Haight.
Patricia is survived by her daughter Rhonda (Scott) Fraser of Windsor, Colorado, grandsons Zachary Taylor and Elijah Fraser, great-granddaughter Cassidy Taylor, and brother Bill (Linda) Zahl of Stratton Neb., nieces Tami (Brad) Knuth, Marci (Aaron) Sis, Kelsi (Aaron) Rogers; nephews Merlyn W. Haight II (Emmy), Brendan Zahl (Trina), Travis Zahl, and numerous great-nieces and nephews whom she adored……and many friends.
There will be no visitation. Cremation was chosen.
