Marvin Virgil Maris was born January 23, 1930, in Hitchcock, Nebraska, to Frank and Florence (Adamson) Maris. As a young man he attended country school the eighth grade.
Marvin married Mary Emma Pursley on December 27, 1953, at Max, Nebraska, and this union two children were born: Janeen and Roger. The couple resided most of their sixty years of marriage in the Eden Community, south of Wauneta.
The couple farmed for many years and Marvin was also a mechanic. He was a member of the Eden Missionary Church, and enjoyed collecting antique tractors and Toy tractors. Marvin passed away Friday morning, January 17th, 2014, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home, Imperial, NE. He was 83 years of age.
Marvin was preceded in death his parents, Brother and Sister-In-Law: Dale and Orpha Marris, Nephews: Leon and Devon Maris, Great-Nephew: Ethan Ashline
Survivors include: His wife, Mary Maris of Imperial Daughter, Janeen Hlavka and husband, Rod of Gregory, SD Son, Roger Maris and wife, Elizabeth, of Wauneta Sister, Ilo Mosiman and husband, Wayne of Valley Center, KS Brother, Leland Maris and wife, Sharon of Wauneta Brother-in-law, John Pursley of Stratton Sister-in-law, Evelyn Rowley of Imperial Sister-in-law, Marsleen Wilkinson of North Platte Sister-in-law, Lila Schwarts of Ogallala 5 Grandchildren: Robbie Hlavka and wife, Jodi, of Box Elder, SD Trisha Rothschadl and Husband, Stuart, of Mitchell,SD Erica Greene, and Husband, Aaron, of Imperial, NE Brett Hlavka and Wife Angela, of Sioux Falls, SD Kelly Hlavka of, Mills, WY 11 Great-Grandchildren: Kelsey, Hannah, Caleb, Seth, Zechariah, Nathaniel, Kiley, Isaiah, Forest, Oliver and Hunter
Graveside Services will be 1:30 P.M. (CT), Monday, January 20th, 2014 at Eden Cemetery, Rural Wauneta with Pastor Lloyd Bley officiating. Interment will follow in Eden Cemetery.
A Memorial has been established to the Fellowship of Christian Farmers.
