Marion "Mike" Soukup

MARION ‘MIKE’ SOUKUP
Marion (Mike) Elmore Soukup was born December 21, 1931, at David City, Nebraska, to Joseph and Enid L. (Johnson) Soukup. As a youngster, he attended school in David City, graduating from David City High School in 1950.
Mike entered the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served until 1954. While serving in the Navy, he married Elaine (Ellie) Joyce Wadkins on September 6th, 1953, at St. Luke’s Methodist Church in David City, Nebraska. The couple first settled in San Diego, California, where Mike was stationed. They later returned to David City for a short time, moving to Lincoln, Nebraska, and then to Milford, Nebraska, where the couple made their home for over 35 years. Recently the couple had resided in Imperial, to be near family.
Mike and Ellie were the owners and operators of the Milford Conoco Service Station for 35 years. Mike was an auto mechanic by trade and did book bindery. He was a member of the Church of Christ of David City, NE. He enjoyed growing flowers and had many house plants. He loved gardening, striving for a ripe tomato by the fourth of July. Fishing was Mike’s passion, fishing all night and working all the next day was no problem.
Mike passed away Sunday morning, July 26, 2015, at his home in Imperial. He was 83 years of age.
Survivors Include: Wife: Ellie of Imperial, NE Son: Michael Soukup and Wife, Roxana, of Arvada, CO Grandsons: Matthew Soukup and wife, Rachel of Memphis, TN Chad Soukup and wife, Ayaka of San Diego, CA Granddaughter: Jasmine Gaxiola of Arvada, CO Great-Grandchild: Lilyana Brother: Norman Soukup of Freeport. ILL. Sisters-In-Law: Donna Winscot of Imperial, NE Beverly McElravy of Visalia, CA Lily Vogel of Kaiser, MO Many nieces and nephews
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Dale and Clyde, sisters; Jenny Lab and Evelyn Bures, one infant niece; Elaine.
Memorial services for Mike Soukup will be held Thursday morning, July 30th, 2015, 11:00 A.M. the Imperial Berean Church, with Pastor Matt Maxwell officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
A memorial has been established in Mike’s memory.
