Lois Ellen (Moore) Leibbrandt was born in Oberlin, KS on April 16, 1928 to Dem and Norma (Thomas) Moore. She grew up on a farm west of Oberlin, later moving to a farm her father purchased near Cedar Bluffs, KS. Having received “Normal Training” in high school, Lois was able to teach school, first near Traer, KS, and later south of Oberlin.
Lois married Martin Leibbrandt on March 7, 1948, at her home in Cedar Bluffs, KS. They had 4 children: Charles, Steve, Kathy and Tim. Lois supported Martin as he established the Decatur County Coop in Oberlin and lived there until 1967 when the family moved to Imperial, NE.
Lois adored her family, especially her grandchildren and great grands, and was a devoted fan at their activities. She loved generously serving them and others in her home, and was a great cook—known for her dinner rolls, pies and German chocolate cakes. Lois served in the church in various ways over the years; and in her later years, she particularly looked forward to spending Thursdays with the church quilting group making quilts for the Orphan Grain Train. She also thoroughly enjoyed getting together with her siblings/spouses to celebrate birthdays; and her visits with caregivers Crystal and Cassidy.
Lois died on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Chase County Hospital, Imperial, NE, surrounded by loved ones. She was well loved and will be missed by many. She is survived by 3 children: Steve (Deb), of Imperial; Kathy Hult (Dave) of Lincoln, NE; Tim (Terri) of Imperial. 10 grandchildren: Amy Johnson (Maurice), Chad Leibbrandt (Amy), Lisa Smith (Jarod), Cyndi Weiss (Dustin), Wade Leibbrandt (Celeste), Daniel Hult (Janell), Scott Leibbrandt (Maika), Ellen Hughes (Tyler), Paula Leibbrandt (fiancé Kevin Yagodinski), Emily Hult. 20 great-grandchildren: Carter (Courtney) Leibbrandt, Addy Leibbrandt, Kaylin Johnson, Paige and Chase Smith, Beau, Norah and Asher Weiss, Rebekah, Canaan and Silas Tonjes, Colin and Garret Leibbrandt, Simon and Claire Leibbrandt, Kadence and Everly Hammond, Asher Taylor; Nolan and Lainey Hughes; and great-great granddaughter Talia Leibbrandt. She is also survived by her sister Karen Ely, and brothers Loyd Moore (Fern) and Rex Moore.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; son Charlie; granddaughters Rebekah Hult and Elizabeth Tonjes; her parents Dem and Norma Moore; her brothers Melvin, Francis and Stanley Moore.
