Linda L. Shapley, born on July 12, 1951, in Cortland, New York, passed away on September 3, 2025, in Stratton, Nebraska. a beloved wife, mother grandmother and great grandmother and friend
in the third grade, Linda moved to Smithfield Flatts, New York, where she began her journey in academia. She graduated from Green Central High School in Greene, New York, in 1970. It was during these formative years that she began her lifelong relationship with Roy Shapley, marrying him shortly after their graduation. Together, they built a family and a life enriched with love and support.
Linda’s career quickly took off as she began working for Chartwell as a food service director. This position allowed her to travel extensively across the United States, where she was instrumental in the creation, installation, and implementation of cafeterias in various industries. She had the honor of contributing to significant projects, including those at NASA Summercamp and Florida Airschool, showcasing her dedication and expertise in the field.
In addition to her professional achievements, Linda was a passionate craft enthusiast. She filled two dedicated rooms with completed projects, materials, and her ongoing creative endeavors. Her talents ranged from using her Cricut machine to design custom t-shirts to creating intricate handmade wreaths. Linda's artistic flair made her a source of inspiration for family and friends alike.
Linda was known for her warm personality and her unwavering devotion to her family, especially her grandchildren, who stood as her proudest accomplishments. Recently, she relocated to Stratton to be closer to her youngest grandchildren, further reflecting her commitment to family and nurturing relationships.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Shapley Sr.; her sons, Daniel, John, and Roy Jr.; her sisters, Brenda Nevel, Lori Archer, and Tammy Lyon; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John, and two passed at birth. Her legacy of love, creativity, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew her.
