Janice was born and raised in Benkelman, Nebraska, by her parents, Raymond and Dorothy “Dot” Benge along with her sisters, Joyce Morris and Dorothy Benge.
Loving mother to her two sons, Trent and Kirt Jorgenson, loving grandmother to Kirt’s daughter Sofia Jorgenson.
Janice cherished her time growing up in Benkelman. When she wasn’t spending her free time visiting cousins, aunts and uncles on the family farm, she dedicated her time to studies and was head majorette at Benkelman High School.
Loving Aunt of Joyce and Tom Morris’ daughters Shauna Zornes and Sharla Allen. Great-Aunt of Shauna and Ron Lockwood’s son and daughters, Sam, Jessie, and Amy Lockwood. Sharla and Jim Allen’s son and daughter, Andrew and Natalie Allen. Great-Great- Aunt of Shauna and Ron Lockwood’s son and daughters are grandchildren; Boone Lockwood, Lylee and Ronni Willoughby; Owen and Della Schaffarzick.
Cousins; Frank “Butch”, Dee and Bob Stamm, Ron Clark and Jerry Calkins.
A graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University, Janice ventured to California in 1965 and never looked back, setting in to raise her two sons Trent and Kirt in Sunnyvale California. There she began a long and distinguished career in the Santa Clara Department of Social Services. Janice worked as a social worker and advanced to supervisor, and bureau Chief Administrator, her passion was her work and traveling with her special friends and her family.
Family and friends are gathering Saturday, September 30th, 2023, 1:00 P.M. (MT) at the Benkelman Cemetery to honor her and bring her to her final resting place next to her parents.
