Obituary

Gerald Vaughn Pinkerton was born to Edward P. and Ruby Geneva (Miller) Pinkerton on May 2, 1930 at the family farmhouse near Benkelman, Nebraska. He attended school in Benkelman and joined the United States Army on August 27, 1948. Gerald served overseas and was honorably discharged on June 24, 1952. He returned home after his release from military service and was united in marriage to Betty Joan Headrick on July 1, 1953 in Benkelman, Nebraska.

Gerald and Betty Jo made their home in Benkelman where he worked for Caldwell’s Inc. In addition to working and spending time with his family, Gerald was a member of the American Legion in Benkelman for more than 50 years. He also enjoyed restoring old properties and following Husker football.

Gerald passed away Thursday evening, September 8, 2016, at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman. He was 86 years of age.

Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers: Edwin and Leon and wife, Betty Jo.

He is survived by his son, Gary Pinkerton and wife, Siri, of Thailand

Memorial services are being planned for a later date.

No visitation; Gerald chose cremation.

A memorial has been established in Gerald’s name.
