Dan Jeffries
Danny Ray Jeffries was born August 28, 1947, in Imperial, Nebraska, to William and Gladys (Bischoff) Jeffries. Dan grew up and attended school in Wauneta, Nebraska, graduating from Wauneta High School in 1965. He continued his education at Chadron State College, Chadron, Nebraska, where he received his bachelor’s degree in industrial arts.
Dan married Lydia Casillas in 1979 and this union there were three children: Francisco (Frank), Jesus (Jessie) and Bonnie.
Dan’s teaching career brought him to Guernsey, Wyoming, in 1978. He taught there until his retirement in 2006. Along with his teaching duties, he coached boys’ and girls’ basketball, and was a driver’s education instructor in the summer months. Dan also managed the local golf course and worked as a carpenter on many projects. After retirement, he made his way back to his hometown, Wauneta, NE, where he resided until his death.
Dan was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing pitch. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Dan passed away Friday afternoon, March 3, 2023, at the Centura Littleton Adventist Hospital, In Littleton, Colorado. He was 75 years of age.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Gladys, and brother-in-law, Bill Crabbs.
Dan is survived by his son: Frank Jefferies and wife, Jennifer, of Mascoutah, IL, his son Jessie Jefferies of Sidney, NE, and his daughter: Bonnie Tiller and husband, Jeremy, of Ashburn, VA; his 10 grandchildren: Tanaya, Viviana, Gabriella, Gatlin, Declan, Falen, Sophia, Selene, Lucian, and Lilah.1Great-Grandchild, Adelena. Dan is also survived by his sister, Kathy Crabbs, of Littleton, CO
A celebration of Life was held Tuesday afternoon, March 7, 2023, 1:00 P.M. (MT) at the Wauneta Community Building, Wauneta, NE. with Pastor Keith Wellman officiating.
Dan’s wishes were for cremation with no visitation.
All memorial donations, in Dan’s memory, can be provided to Liewer Funeral Home. The donations will be used to fund and erect a monument at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, for which the family can visit in remembrance of Dan.
