C. Dale Derby

Clarence Dale Derby, 59, of Palisade, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 26th, 2016, in Hastings, Nebraska. Born; December 7, 1957, in Martins Ferry, Ohio. He was the son of William Clarence Derby and Doris Ann (Anderson) Lightner.

Dale was a 1976 graduate of Carrollton High School in Ohio. He spent most of his adult life self-employed, from washing trucks to driving trucks.

On July 11, 1998, Dale married Julie D. Watkins in Oakland, Oregon. Together they spent the next 8 years driving truck nationwide. In April 2005, the couple moved to Palisade, Nebraska, where they resided until present.

Survivors Include:
Wife: Julie of Palisade, NE.
Sister: Kay Fluharty and husband Denzel of Massillon, OH.
Sister: Barbara Pantzer and husband David of North Canton, OH.
Brother: Patrick Lightner of Mississippi.
Mother-in-law: Marilyn Allen and husband Michael of Cottonwood, CA.
Father-in-law: Ronald Watkins of Kendrick, ID.
Brothers-in-law: Vance Watkins, Robert Watkins and John Allen.
Sisters-in-law: Amy Miller and Suzi Watkins.
Numerous Aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, son Heath in 1994; and daughter, Roselyn in 2010.

Funeral service will be held Friday, December 30th, 2016, 12:30 P.M. (CT) at the United Methodist Church of Palisade with Rev. Todd Burpo officiating. Interment will follow at the Palisade Cemetery, Palisade, Nebraska.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 29th, 2016, 2:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. (CT) at the Palisade United Methodist Church of Palisade, NE.

A memorial has been established in Dale’s memory.
