Corliss Cay High, passed away on August 24, 2025, in Imperial, Nebraska, at the age of 69. Born on November 22, 1955, in Davenport, Iowa to Carlos and Mary (Bogner) Payton. Corliss spent her early years in the Davenport area until she and her family moved to Colorado when she was around 11 or 12 years old.
Throughout her life, Corliss was known for her boundless creativity, a willingness to try anything once and her love of travel. She possessed an adventurous spirit, always eager to explore new places and experiences, never content to sit still for too long. Her zest for life and her unique perspective on the world touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Corliss held many cherished memories, one of the most significant being the moment she met the love of her life, Joseph High, at Glory Hole Casino in Central City, Colorado. Their bond was a testament to the joy and connection that love can bring into one’s life.
Among her proudest accomplishments was obtaining her GED later in life, a reflection of her determination and commitment to personal growth. Corliss was also a beloved family member, leaving behind her son Gary, daughter Katie, stepdaughters Sally Harney and Tammy Howard, and her brother Harold Bogner. She is survived by her sisters, Jody Payton-Edwards and Mary Payton, as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will remember her with love and fond memories.
She was predeceased in death by her parents and her husband, Joseph High, whose memories will forever remain in the hearts of her family. Corliss will be remembered not only for her creative spirit but also for her unwavering love for her family and the joy she brought to all who knew her. Her legacy of adventure, creativity, and familial love will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
