Obituary

Belva Judeen Tisdale, eighty-eight, of Dix, Nebraska, went to be with her Heavenly Father

on August 5, 2026. She was born on September 29, 1937, in Sidney, Nebraska to Ernest and Helen (Dedic) Peterson. The family moved to Vermillion, South Dakota when she was two months old and lived there until she was three. The family came back to Gurley, Nebraska. While growing up she was active in 4-H, Girl Scouts, played the accordion for years entertaining at events, played in a dance band and taught music lessons. She graduated from Gurley High School in 1955 and attended Colorado A & M College in Fort Collins, Colorado and returned to Sidney to work at the American National Bank.

She married Don Tisdale of Dix, Nebraska, November 3, 1957, in Gurley, Nebraska. They lived and farmed in Dix all their married life until retiring in 2003. Belva was devoted to her family and modeled a giving life of working alongside her husband, teaching her daughters homemaking skills, and developing a sense of community spirit. Belva enjoyed singing, playing piano and accordion, sewing, sharing baked goods, community clean-up projects, church, and bible studies. Her energy touched lives as she loved to serve God in all these endeavors.

Belva accepted the Lord as her Savior on June 8, 1968, and later baptized in the Lodgepole Creek by the Point of Rocks near Potter, Nebraska.

She is survived by her husband, Don Tisdale, daughters Brenda (Gary) Ledall of Imperial, Nebraska and Colette (Loren) Jessen of Grant, Nebraska, three grandchildren Tiffany Roe, Chandra (Chance) Thayer, and Callin (Mandy) Ledall, and seven great-grandchildren, Clayson, John, Cryder, Blake, Cayven, Addie and Noah. She is proceeded in death by her parents, brother Weldon, grandparents and a host of family and friends.

A Graveside service will be held 10:30am, Sunday, August 9, at the Dix Cemetery in Dix, NE.
