Wilma Stromberger was born on March 20, 1928, in Loveland, Colorado, to Henry and Katherine Rothe. Wilma was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Greeley, Colorado. She graduated from University High School in Greeley in 1946.
On February 5, 1950, Wilma married Ray Stromberger at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Greeley. Later in 1950, Wilma and Ray made their home east of Greeley where they farmed and fed cattle. During this time, their three children were born. In the spring of 1973, Wilma and Ray moved west of Champion, Nebraska, to farm, feed cattle and start a cow/calf operation.
Wilma was a very active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial, Nebraska. She was always very active in her children’s and grandchildren’s school, sports and 4-H activities.
Wilma and Ray built a new home and moved to Imperial in 1992. Together they took trips to Australia and Hawaii and often visited their daughter in Arizona. After Ray’s death in 1998, Wilma continued to travel the world for several more years. When her health failed, Wilma moved to the Imperial Heights and then to Grace Pointe in Greeley.
Wilma passed away Thursday, June 6th, 2013, at the North Colorado Medical Center, Greeley, Colorado, with her family at her side. She was 85 years of age.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Ray; by her parents Henry and Katherine Rothe; by her brothers Elmer Rothe and Harry Rothe; and by her sister Florence Schmidt.
Survivors Include: Son: Alan Stromberger of Iliff, Colorado. Daughter: Debra Keiser and husband Dale of Wickenburg, Arizona. Son: Bart Stromberger of Champion, Nebraska. Brothers: Emanuel Rothe and wife Katharine of Greeley, Colorado. Lee Rothe and wife Marlene of Greeley, Colorado. Sister-in-law: Betty Jane Armagost and husband Don of Greeley, Colorado. 6 Grandchildren: Brad Stromberger and wife Jonna of Iliff, Colorado; Mark Stromberger of Sterling, Colorado; Ryan Stromberger and wife Stephanie of Champion, Nebraska; Brock Stromberger and wife Lana of Champion, Nebraska; Jordan Ostermiller and husband Todd of Champion, Nebraska; and Tanner Stromberger of Champion, Nebraska. 5 Great Grandchildren: Brooke, Alli and Bailey Stromberger of Iliff, Colorado; and Conner and Taya Stromberger of Champion, Nebraska.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 11th, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial, Nebraska, with Pastor David Kahle officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, Nebraska.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon, June 10th, 2013, from 2-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Imperial. The family will be present to greet from 5-7 p.m.
A memorial has been established to the Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial.
A memorial service will also be held on Thursday, June 13, 2013, 10:30 a.m., at Grace Pointe, 1919 68th Ave, Greeley, Colorado.
