Willamae Johnson
Willamae, “Willy” Johnson peacefully passed away at her home to join her husband, Bill, in eternal celebration, through their Lord and savior Jesus on Thursday, August 20th, 2015.
Willy was born on March 17, 1930, to Otis and Sarah E. (Pulium) Cox. She grew up and attended school in Aurora, Colorado graduating from high School in 1948. On June 2, 1948, Willy was united in marriage to John W. “Bill’ Johnson in Aurora, Colorado. To this Union four children were born; Dianne, Dennis, Troy, and Tracy. Willy and Bill were longtime residents of Aurora and Bennett, Colorado. While in Bennett they started, owned, and operated a business called I-70 Trash. They raised their children and Willy assisted Bill in managing the family operation. In 1996 they retired to Stratton, Nebraska, where they made their home until present.
Willy was a member of the Christian Union Church of Stratton, a former member of the Aurora, Colorado Volunteer Fire Department and the VFW Auxiliary of Bennett, Colorado, and Stratton, Nebraska. She enjoyed gardening, watching Bronco’s Football and NASCAR, eating ice-cream, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Willy was preceded in death by her husband, John W. “Bill” of 60 years, and son, Dennis.
Survivors include: Son, Troy Johnson and wife, Sherrie of Stratton, NE Daughter, Dianne Ukowich and husband, Robert of Aurora, CO Daughter, Tracy and husband, Terry Angstead of Snyder, NE 11 Grandchildren 21 Great-Grandchildren Sister: Gertrude Carter, of St. Joseph, MO Brother: Donald Cox and wife, Linda, of Aurora, CO.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. (CT), Tuesday August 25, 2015 at the Christian Union Church in Stratton with Pastor Kevin Fink officiating.
Visitation will take place at the church prior to services, day of services.
Interment will be at 9:00 A.M. (MT), Thursday August 27, 015 at the Mount View Cemetery in Bennett, Colorado.
A memorial has been established to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
