VIOLA FANNING
Mable Viola Fanning, a twin, was born November 13th, 1925, to Ernest and Mable Green in Stratton, Nebraska. Viola’s mother and twin brother died in childbirth, and Viola was raised by her Aunt Nora Fox. Viola grew up in Wauneta and attended Wauneta High School.
On March 4, 1944, Viola married Russell O. Fanning, and to this union three children were born: Lynn, Judy, and Larry. They lived in Wauneta several years before moving northeast of town to start a life on the farm. Viola’s passion was home and family, keeping an impeccable home, and being an always there mom. She also enjoyed singing.
Viola and Russell retired from the farm in 1980, and made Wauneta their home once again. Viola passed away early Thursday morning, May 2, 2013, at the Sunrise Heights Nursing Home in Wauneta. She was 87years of age.
Survivors Include: Son: Lynn Fanning and wife, Charlene, of Centennial, CO Daughter: Judy Zohner and Husband, Robert, of North Platte, NE 4 Grandchildren: Garrett Zohner and wife, Jennifer, of York, NE Dacia Ritterbush and Husband, Mark, of Grand Junction, CO Kimberly Nock and Husband, Robert, of Eagle, CO Kristal Mangham and Husband, Bradley, Highlands Ranch, CO. 10 Grandchildren
Viola was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Russell in 2007, Son, Larry, one Sister and two brothers.
Funeral Services were held Monday afternoon, May 6th, 2013, 1:00 P.M. (MT) at Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta with Lay Pastor Melody Newman officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta.
Visitation will be held Monday before services.
A memorial has been established in Viola’s memory.
