Steven Jussel
Steven Nelson Jussel was born July 11, 1954, at St. Catherine’s Hospital in McCook, NE, to Bernadene (Bunnie) and Leroy Jussel. As a youngster, Steven, grew up in Wauneta, NE, where he attended grade school. He spent most of his weekends and summers on his grandparent’s farm North of Palisade, NE. Steven and his Granddad Modrell and Grammie were close companions. He was so proud at the age of thirteen, did most of the farming for his ailing Granddad. Steven continued his education graduating from Wauneta High School in 1972.
Steven started working in well drilling and Irrigation in the middle 1970’s and traveled to Saudi Arabia in the late 1970’s to work on a government Sprinkler project. He continued his work in the irrigation industry by joining Grosch Irrigation. Steven was the branch manager in Imperial, NE, for 17 years.
Steven loved children and many a joyful hour was spent having fun with his Grandchildren. Love of family was Steven’s pride and joy, as well as Nebraska Football.
Steven passed away early Sunday morning, January 16th, 2011, at The Denver Hospice and Patient Care Center in Denver, Colorado. Steven was 56 years of age.
He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Ben and Elizabeth Jussel, Bernard and Irene Modrell. Son: Danny Joe Jussel
Survivors Include: Parents: Leroy and Bunnie (Bernadene) Jussel of Wauneta, NE Son: Chris Jussel and wife, Jamie, of Imperial, NE Daughter: Faith Franckie and Husband, Dustin, of Paxton, Ill. Daughter: Hope Jussel of Washington, Ill. 6 Grandchildren: Kristen and Logan Jussell, Jacob Arenz, Tyson and Kayla Franckie, and Ethen Jussel Brother: Dave Jussel and wife, Vickie, of Waddell, AZ Niece: Michelle McCarthy and Husband Jeremy of Airzona Nephew: Brent Jussel of Arizona
Memorial Services for will be held Saturday afternoon, January 22, 2011, 1:00 P.M. (MT) at the United Methodist Church of Wauneta, with Pastor Bonnie McCord officiating.
No Visitation, Steve chose cremation.
In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Wauneta Ambulance, EMTs and the Wauneta Volunteer Fire Department.
