Rusty Kinder was born July 5, 1926, at Champion, Nebraska, to Jacob H. and Rachel I. (Anderson) Kinder. As a young man, he attended school in Imperial, graduating from Chase County High School in 1944. Rusty served in the Army Air Corp on Okinawa during World War II. He returned to Imperial and October 8, 1950, he married Colleen Ann Forsbeck at Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial. To this union four children were born: Kurt Dee, Shari Lynn, Jannean Rae and Risa Ann.
Rusty was a long-time resident and an active member of the community of Imperial. He was a member of the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department for 36 years and the Veterans’ of Foreign Wars Andrew Kinder Post #4688, serving as commander for several years. Rusty was a member of the Imperial Walking Blood Bank and a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was known throughout the area for being a vital member of Imperial’s funeral home since 1946. Rusty and Colleen were neighbors to the funeral home and were part of funeral services for those many years. The couple owned and operated the J.C. Penney Catalog Store in Imperial until retirement.
Rusty passed away Saturday evening, June 28th, 2014, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home, Imperial. He was 87 years of age. Survivors Include: Wife: Colleen of Imperial, NE. Son: Kurt and wife Deb of Kansas City, KS. Daughter: Shari Kinder and husband David Campanella, of Kansas City, MO. Daughter: Jannean Kinder of North Platte, NE. Daughter: Risa Kinder of Sidney, NE. 3 Grandchildren: Tjjohn Frahm, Megan Smith and Zachary Kinder. 2 Step- Grandchildren: Aaron Hawes and Amber Cline 4 Great-Grandchildren: Garrett Dondlinger, Cooper Smith, Jackson Smith and Logan Frahm. 4 Step-Great-Grandchildren: Aaron Evan Hawes, Jacob Cline, Aubry Cline and Josiah Cline.
Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Andrew, Beulah, James, Zane and Lloyd.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday morning, July 5th, 2014, 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, Imperial, with Pastor David Kahle officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department new building fund and the Zion Lutheran Church building fund.
