RUBY ROESENER
Ruby Myrtle Roesener was born November 9, 1912, in Benkelman, Nebraska, to William and Annie (Wakefield) Thompson. Ruby grew up and attended grade school in Benkelman where she also received her G.E.D. Ruby then attended LPN school at Alliance, Nebraska, along with her longtime friend Ada Nordhausen. On October 16, 1935, Ruby married August William Roesener in McDonald, Kansas, at the Roesener family farm. To this union four children were born: Phyllis, John, Eldon, and Dallas. The couple first settled four miles north of McDonald, Kansas, before moving on to Benkelman and Colorado in the 1940’s. In 1981 they moved into their new home in Holdrege, Nebraska, where they resided for 20 years. Ruby then made her home in Imperial, Nebraska, in 2001 to be near her family.
Ruby passed away early Sunday morning, April 17, 2011, at the Chase County Hospital, Imperial. She was 98 years of age.
Ruby had many hobbies including crocheting, playing bingo, cooking, canning, and gardening. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. Ruby especially loved spending time with her family and playing cards. Ruby was a 4-H leader and was a member of several garden clubs and Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband August in 1991, one grandson Scott Raile, brother Carl Thompson, sisters Leona Pickett and twin sister Florence Jussel.

Funeral Services for Ruby Roesener will be held Wednesday morning, April 20th, 2011, 11:00 A.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial, with Pastor David Kahle officiating. Interment will follow at the Benkelman Cemetery, 2:30 P.M.
Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon, April 19th, 2011, 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Imperial.
A memorial has been established to the Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial, NE
