ROBERT EMMETT LEE
Robert Emmett Lee passed away at the Chase County Community Hospital on November 2, 2009, at the age of 85.
Robert was born on August 28, 1924, in Spalding, Nebraska, to Emmett Joseph and Mary Ellen (Darcy) Lee. He grew up in Spalding and attended Spalding High School, graduating in 1942. After his high school graduation, Bob worked various jobs in Omaha, Nebraska, and in California.
Bob married Annetta Mae German in Spalding, Nebraska, on November 22, 1949, and to this union seven children were born. The couple settled in Spalding where they farmed until 1966. They then moved to Imperial where Bob operated a sporting goods and liquor store until 1979. Bob also worked in the car and grain businesses and purchased the Laundromat in Imperial in 1981. He retired in 1989. The couple lived in North Platte, NE, for several years before moving back to Imperial in 2007.
Bob was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Imperial Chamber of Commerce, Chase County School Board, National Farmers Organization, Imperial City Council, and Prayer Group. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, card playing, telling stories, and chasing his grandchildren. Bob was an avid Husker and baseball fan.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Emmett and Mary Lee, brother: Billy, sister: Patty, son: Jerry Pat, granddaughter: Savannah, and sister: Ann.
Survivors include: Wife: Annetta of Imperial, NE 7 Children: Daughter: Becky Freeman and husband Gary of North Platte, NE Daughter: Sue Pinkerton and husband Cappy of Oxford, NE Son: Ed Lee and wife Betty of Imperial, NE Daughter: Deb Widger and husband Dan of Wahoo, NE Son: James Lee and wife Sharon of Poulsbo, WA Son: John Lee and wife Tammy of North Platte, NE Daughter: Karen McMullen and husband Ron of Parker, CO 16 Grandchildren: Jeremy, Stacy, Robby, Justin, Tiffany, Patrick, Nicole, Emily, Amy, Johnathon, Christopher, Mike, Mikala, Zachary, Cody, and Jake 7 Great-Grandchildren Sisters: Margaret Dyson of Amarillo, TX, Jean McMahan of Greeley, CO, and Claire Kelly of Shingle Springs, CA Cousin: Jim Ebers of Shingle Springs, CA
A rosary for Robert Lee will be held Wednesday evening , 7:30 P.M., at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Imperial, with the Funeral Mass to follow Thursday morning, 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Fr. Bernard Lorenz celebrating. Interment will follow on Friday morning 11:00 A.M. (CT) at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Spalding, NE
Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon, 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Imperial.
A memorial has been established to the St. Patrick’s Parish Hall Fund or the Imperial Manor Nursing Home.
