Paulene Bremer

Paulene Mae (Edghill) Bremer, 92 years young, of Imperial passed away peacefully Sunday, January 31st, 2016, at Eben-Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, Colorado. Paulene was born June 21st, 1923, at her parents’ home in Franklin, Nebraska, to Harold Roland and Mary Gladys (Houseman) Edghill, they moved to Palisade in 1928. She graduated from Palisade High School in 1940.

Paulene met her love, Duane Arol Bremer, on a blind date in May of 1940. They were engaged in June of 1940 and married on July 26th, 1940. The couple had 42 years to share together. They made their home at Ben L. & Mayme (Blanke) Bremer’s while Duane enlisted into the Marines. When Duane was discharged, they bought a farm 11 miles west of Imperial, where they lived until Duane semi-retired in 1965. Paulene and Duane built a new home at the edge of Imperial on Golf Course Road and resided there until Duane passed away in 1982 and Paulene until 2010.

Paulene was an active member of the Champion Women’s Club and Eagles #3472. 95% of her time was spent supporting and helping her husband and being a full-time housewife. She enjoyed taking painting classes and she completed many beautiful works of art. She also enjoyed making Christmas ornaments and she saw to it that every member of the family received one.

Paulene was preceded in death by her parents: Harold & Gladys Edghill; husband: Duane A. Bremer; sister: Darlene Cecil; and nephew: Rick Bridgmon.

Survivors include:
Daughter: Marilyn Eddins and husband Joe of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Daughter: Scheryl Hunt and husband Jerry of Champion, Nebraska.
Sister: Greta Gigax and husband Gilbert of Hays Center, Nebraska.
Sister: Ruth Bridgmon of Palisade, Nebraska.
Sister-in-law: Duanne Dean Dixon and friend Jack Claney of Imperial, Nebraska.
8 grandchildren: Eric (Meredith) Eddins of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Quinn (Tracy) Eddins of Murrieta, California; Neil Eddins of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Brett Allendorf (Julie Linkus) of Broomfield Colorado; Jodi (Bob) Cochran of Littleton, Colorado; Duane (Corrie) Allendorf of Johnstown, Colorado; Heather (Brett) Fielder of Brighton, Colorado; Jared (Kelly) Hunt of Anchorage, Alaska.
12 great-grandchildren: Cole, Sawyer, Sutton and Sadie Eddins of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Emily and Miranda Eddins of Murrieta, California; Jason (Refka) Cochran of Denver, Colorado; Dalton Allendorf of Johnstown, Colorado; Joshua, Matthew and Preston Fielder of Brighton, Colorado; Jackson Hunt of Anchorage, Alaska.
Numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. (Mountain Time), Friday, February 5, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church in Imperial, Nebraska, with Rev. Melody Newman officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.

Visitation will be Thursday afternoon, February 4, 2016, from 2:00-6:00 P.M. (Mountain Time) at the Funeral Home in Imperial.

In lieu of flowers, a Memorial has been established in Paulene’s name, Contributions should be addressed to daughter; Scheryl Hunt.
