Max Ardell Rowley, 82, passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at his home in Imperial, Nebraska. Max was born on July 27, 1929, to Dewey and Chole (King) Rowley.
He grew up in the Blanche Community and later graduated from Chase County High School in 1948. On July 9, 1951, he was united in marriage to Genevieve E. Hedges. Born to this union were three children, Dan, Diana and Brenda. Two weeks after their marriage, Max was called to duty in Korea. After his tour on Korea the family resided in Enders, Nebraska, until 1972 when they moved to Imperial to their current residence.
Max worked for Howard Legg Construction for a while before being employed with Frenchman Valley Coop for 45 years. He loved camping with his family, playing his steel guitar and accordion and hunting pheasants. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Max is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Greta and Merietta, brother Melvin, and daughter Diana.
He is survived by bis loving wife, Genny, of 60 years; son, Dan Rowley of Imperial; daughter, Brenda Florea and husband, Greg, of Lincoln; grandchildren, Kelly Rowley of Grand Island, Tracy (Brian) Metz of Pleasanton, Crystal (Joel) Moore of Littelton, CO., Mike (Lena) Rowley of Imperial, Angela (Brian) Williams of Grant, and Eric Florea of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Grant Metz, Kimberli Rowley, Cody Williams, MacKenzie Metz, Travis Rowley, Taylor Williams, Chase Rowley and Madison Rowley.
Funeral Services for Max Rowley will be held Tuesday Morning , Dec. 27th, 10:30 A.M. at the Crossroads Wesleyan Church , Imperial, with Martin Harmon officiating and guitarist and vocalist Kim Silvester providing musician selections. Casketbearers are Mike Rowley, Kelly Rowley, Brian Metz, Eric Florea, Brian Williams and Joel Moore. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial with Military Rites provided by the VFW Post #4688 of Imperial.
Visitation will be held before services on Tuesday.
A memorial has been established to the Imperial Senior Center
