August 29, 1917 — February 23, 2011

Mary Wallin
Mary Perrin (Newman) Wallin was born in Guide Rock, Nebraska, on August 29, 1917, and passed away on February 23, 2011, at the age of 93 years.
Mary grew up in Chase County, Nebraska, and attended Hiawatha Grade School southeast of Imperial. She graduated from Chase County High School in 1936.
Olan and Mary were married on May 6, 1939, and to this union four children were born: Garry, Julia, Betty, and Danny. Last May Olan and Mary celebrated 71 years of marriage. They lived and raised their children in Chase County and were active in farming, community activities, school sports and church.
Over the years, Olan and Mary would be found attending almost all sporting events in the community, first at the softball games when the children were still at home, and then they attended all sporting events as long as they could. You could never find truer fans than Mary and Olan.
In 2003 Olan and Mary were honored as Grand Marshals in the Chase County Fair parade.
Through the years Olan and Mary were engaged in farming. Mary helped on the farm in many ways, not only raising a big garden, raising chickens, milking cows, and cooking big meals; but also many times she would be driving a farm truck, hauling sugar beets and wheat. Whatever needed to be done, Mary did it, working hard all her life.
Mary loved people and loved to go to church and to church activities. She accepted Christ at an early age and was later baptized and attended church all her life. She helped with Vacation Bible School, supplied food for various events and always enjoyed the Bible Studies and fellowship through all the years.
Mary and Olan traveled many times, visiting Germany, Israel, Egypt, Hawaii and London. She could tell you many stories about every one of her trips. She was such a good friend and will be missed by her family as well as many friends and local people.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, 2 sisters, and her son Garry.
