BENKELMAN, Nebraska -- Mary Lou Ohrman passed away Sept. 8, 2013, at her home in Benkelman, Nebraska.
She was born Aug. 31, 1927, in Hill City, Kansas, to Mabel (Custine) and Frank R. Brown.
Mary Lou attended school in Colby, Kansas, graduating with the class of 1945. She then studied photography in Salida, Colorado. She was united in marriage to Lee R. Ohrman on Feb. 7, 1946, in Colby. Lee and Mary were married for 63 years and their children and grandchildren were their greatest joy,
Most of Mary Lou's life was spent in Colby, Kansas, and Benkelman. She spent many years serving as a dispatcher and bookkeeper for the family trucking business. She was always ready to help anyone that needed her.
Mary Lou became a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Benkelman on Feb. 13, 1977. She enjoyed her church, church family and being helpful as needed until her health failed. Mary Lou was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was active in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts as her children grew up.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mabel Brown and her husband, Lee Ohrman. Her loving memories will be a blessing to her family and friends.
Mary Lou left behind four children: Mike and Toni Ohrman of Benkelman, Sherry and Tim Hanes of Max, John and Jane Ohrman of Benkelman and Nicholas Ohrman of Benkelman, two sisters, Cynthia Henningsen and Bev and John Kern of Colby, Kansas, five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorials are being accepted in her name.
Funeral services are Thursday, morning, Sept. 12, 2013, 10:30 a.m. (MT) at the Trinity Baptist Church of Benkelman, with Pastor Paul Folk officiating. Interment will follow at the Benkelman Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday morning before services at the church,
