    Marietta A.B. Kuhn

    January 24, 1944 - February 12, 2011

    Marietta Kuhn Marietta A.B. Kuhn was born on January 24, 1944, in Kalish/ Wargau, Poland, due to parents fleeing their usual home in Berlin, Germany, because of Allied bombing during WWII. Marietta grew up in Germany after the War and on August 12, 1965, married Bruce Sponie in Berlin. They were married 20 years and to this union two sons were born: Michael and Chris. They came to the United States in 1965 and lived in California for a short time. In 1969, they moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where resided until 1972, moving again to Imperial, Nebraska, where they made their home. Marietta became a U.S. Citizen in 1970 and graduated from Beauty College in 1973. She also earned her G.E.D. and graduated from high school in 1978. Marietta then opened her own hair salon “Cut N Style” in 1980. Marietta married Daryl Jameson of Grant, Nebraska, in January of 1988, and they lived in Grant, where the couple operated the Jameson 66 Service Station and the Travelers Inn Motel, along with her beauty shop. Daryl passed away from a heart attack and Marietta continued to live in Grant. In January of 1992, Marietta married Harlen Khun, and they lived on a farm outside Liebenthal, Kansas, south of Hays until 1996. She then returned to Imperial and reopened the “Cut N Style”. Marietta enjoyed doing hair and visiting with all her customers that she had over the many years of operating her salon. Marietta was a member of the Imperial Eagles, and a life member of the Elks. She enjoyed bowling and Volunteering at the Eagles club. Marietta passed away Saturday evening, February 12, 2011, at the Linden Court Care Facility in North Platte, Nebraska. She was 67 years of age. Survivors Include: Husband: Harlen of Imperial, NE Sons: Mike Sponie of North Platte, NE Chris Sponie and wife, Brandie, of North Platte, NE 2 Step-daughters: Deena Smith and Husband, Sam, of Windom, KS Marina Fulton and Husband, Doug, of Maze, KS 3 Grandchildren: Ashley, Christian, Cooper, and Ava. 3 Step- Grandchildren: Emily, Eryn, and Christopher Marietta was preceded in death by her mother: Lieselotte Mowes, and Husbands; Bruce Sponie and Daryl Jameson A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday morning, February 19, 2011, 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Imperial, with Father Bernard Lorenz officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial. Visitation will be held Friday afternoon, February 18th, 2011, 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Imperial.
