Leona Ruth Albin was on July 1, 1919, at Champion, Nebraska, a daughter of August and Clara (Greim) Meeske. She married Everett L. Albin, August 19, 1945, in Champion, Nebraska. He passed away March 31, 2004.
Leona has been an elementary school teacher. She taught in rural schools for four years. She also had worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago for four and one-half years. Leona and Everett farmed in the Foosland, Ill., area until retirement.
Leona was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Osman, Ill. She very active as a charter member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and a member of the Ladies Aid.
Leona living at Gibson City, Ill, near Foosland, passed away at 5:10 A.M., Thursday morning, December 19, 2013, at the Gibson City Area Hospital Annex, Gibson City, Illinois. Leona was 94 years of age.
Survivors Include: Niece: Alisa Rindels and Husband, Dean, of Scottsbluff, NE Nephew: Kenneth Meeske and wife, Ruby, of Paris, TX Several Great-Nieces and nephews including Lloyd, Galen, and Karl Meeske all of Champion, NE. A sister-In-Law and Close friends: Don and Connie Warsaw
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, Brother: Henry Meeske, and two sisters: Pauline Meeske, and Irene Gestring.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, December 26, 2013, 10:00 A.M., at the Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial, Nebraska, with Pastor David Kahle officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
Visitation will be held before services on starting at 9:00 A.M. at the church
A memorial has been established in Leona’s memory.
