Kent E. Kitt, age 58, died suddenly on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at his home in rural Wauneta, Nebraska. Kent is survived by his father, Paul Kitt of rural Wauneta; brother Craig Kitt of East Hampton, NY; sister Paula Kitt of Lenexa, KS; and nephew Ryan Busking of Houston, TX. He is preceded in death by his mother Elnora (Cushing) Kitt.
Kent was born February 2, 1956, growing up as an active youth involved in church, school, and farm activities. Following graduation from Wauneta High School in 1974 he attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, earning Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1980. Kent chose to enter the agriculture profession, becoming third generation to work the family farm based in Dundy County, Nebraska. He produced wheat, corn, sunflowers, milo and also a managed cow/calf herd.
His Christian faith and also community support and involvement were important to Kent. He was a baptized child of God and member of United Methodist Church in Wauneta, where he had served as council president. He was most recently serving as a director for Wauneta Co-op Oil Company. He enjoyed music and concerts, especially from the 70’s/80’s, snow skiing, and sharing stories and good times with friends. Family and friends will remember Kent for his devotion to small town life, his compassion for animals, and his kind heart. Memorial service and celebration of life is scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Mountain Time at United Methodist Church, Wauneta, NE., with Pastor Bonnie McCord officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta.
