    Joy Wheeler

    October 23, 1935 - June 16, 2013

    M. Joy Wheeler Joy Wheeler was born October 23, 1935, in Oakland, Nebraska, to Sherman and Buelah (Jennwien) Anderson. Joy grew up and attended school in Ogallala, Nebraska, graduating from Ogallala High School in 1953. On June 1, 1956, Joy married Roy R. Wheeler in Ogallala and the couple settled in Sutherland, Nebraska. They later moved to Washington State where Joy worked as a transcriptionist for the Grant County Sherriff’s Department, retiring in 1994. After retirement, Roy and Joy moved to Imperial and Joy was employed as a bookkeeper at the Eagles. Joy was a member of the United Methodist Church of Imperial and the Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafting, painting and socializing. Joy passed away at her home in Imperial on Sunday, June 16, 2013. She was 77 years of age. Joy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Dean, niece Shelley Anderson and nephew Doug Anderson. Survivors include husband: Roy of Imperial, Nebraska. Daughter: Tanya Wheeler and Dave of Soap Lake, Washington. Daughter: Wendy Wheeler and Antonette of Imperial, Nebraska. 4 Grandchildren: Danielle, Joey, Taylor and Jim. Sister-in-law: Charlene Anderson of Roma, California. Sister-in-law: Velta Larson of Glendale, Arizona. Sister-in-law: Bertha Hagan of North Platte, Nebraska. Sister-in-law: Coleta Corey and husband Nick of Silverdale, Washington. Sister-in-law: Vada Keesler and husband Harold of Dowagiac, Michigan. Sister-in-law: Wilma Sorge and husband Bill of Holdrege, Nebraska. Brother-in-law: Larry Wheeler and wife Norma of Oxford, Michigan. Memorial Services for Joy will be held Monday, June 24, 2013, 10:00 a.m. (MT), at the United Methodist Church of Imperial, Nebraska, with Pastor Valera Heydenberk officiating. A private family inurnment will occur at a later date. No visitation, Joy chose cremation. A memorial has been established in Joy’s memory to the United Methodist Church of Imperial.
