JEAN MOLINE
Jean Jacquelyn (Bedient) Moline, was born at home in rural York County, Nebraska, on January 4, 1937, to Marjorie (Midge) Bedient and Glenn Bedient. Jean died in Imperial, Nebraska, on October 26, 2011, at the age of 74.
She married Roger Moline on February 24, 1957, in York, and they farmed near Bradshaw until 1973, and near Lamar, until retirement in 2000. She was the mother of Brenda Bartels, Colorado Springs; Beth Karnopp (Tim), Olathe, Kansas; Brad (Jill), Imperial; and son-in-law, Tim Bartels, Champion. She was the grandmother of Sydney and Grant Karnopp, Emma Bartels, and Adam and Ryan Moline.
She is survived by siblings, Betty (Jim) Hogan of Kinston, North Carolina; Frank “Butch” (Diane) of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; and brother-in-law, Ralph Huston. Her parents and siblings, Richard (Katherine) Bedient, Maribel Huston, and infant Phyllis Jane, preceded her in death.
She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and a myriad of dear friends and extended family, including the members of the Dirty Dozen Gang, a group of 13 high school classmates, the survivors of whom still share a Round Robin letter, 50 years later.
Jean graduated from York High School in 1954. She worked at the shoe store, was an usher at the York Theater, and office manager of the Lamar Popcorn Plant. Jean was the first woman member ever appointed to the Chase County Fair Board – to the chagrin of the some of the men on the board – and served on the board in a very active capacity for more than 25 years. She was a 4-H Leader, member of the Freedoms Foundation, and committee member of the Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and canning, and was a reluctant but very capable harvest helper for Roger. Christmas and Fair time with family were always a highlight. Jean also enjoyed her occasional cigarette and Diet Coke.
Services will be Monday, October 31, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. (MT), at the Imperial Methodist Church with Pastor Fred Andersen officiating and graveside services Tuesday morning, November 1, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. (CT), at Greenwood Cemetery, in York, Nebraska, with Phil Towle officiating, and lunch following.
Honorary Escorts are grandkids: Sydney Karnopp, Emma Bartels, Grant Karnopp, Adam Moline, and Ryan Moline.
