James “Jack” Egger

James Neuman Egger was born January 15, 1948, at Des Moines, IA, to Herbert (Bud) and Norma Jean (Madsen) Egger. Jack, (as he was known) graduated from Parkview High School, Springfield, MO., in 1967. He soon started his nine year career in the U.S. Air Force stationed initially at Osan Air Force Base, South Korea, and finishing at NORAD, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO. While in the service he was an honors graduate, Transportation Officer-3550 Technical School, Sheppard Technical Training Center, in 1971. Jack also continued his education obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1971, from the University of Tennessee and a Master’s Degree in Social Services from the Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, WA, in 1974. He his honorably discharged in 1976. In 1989, Jack gained employment with the HVH Transportation Company as terminal manager in Colorado Springs, CO. In 1994, Jack was promoted to terminal manager in Denver, CO. He retired from the company in 2012 as the vice president of operations.

Jack married Christine Ann Shull on July 24, 2006, in Wiggins, Co, where the couple settled. Following Christine’s career, they moved to Greeley, Co, Emporia, KS, and Benkelman, NE, in 2016. Jack and Christine have made Stratton, NE their home till present.

Jack was a member of the Colorado Motor Carrier’s Association, and the Men’s Prayer Group of Wiggins, CO. Locally; he was a member of the Tuesday Bible Study of Stratton, NE, and taught adult Bible study and was a trustee and church board member of the Trinity Baptist of Benkelman. Jack was an artist, both in oil and acrylic painting. He enjoyed wood carving, playing pool, in which he was a champion in the service. Jack was also was a published author of “From Sin Salvation” in 2015.

Jack passed away Monday morning, July 6, 2020, at the Great Plains Health Hospital, North Platte, NE. Jack was 72 years of age.

Son: Walter Omar Egger and wife, Randi, of Colorado Springs. CO
Daughters: Charityjoy Smallwood and (Wayne Ludlow) Colorado Springs, CO, Monica Brown and (Justin Frank) of Lidgerwood, N.D. Angela Brown and (Richard Steele) of Karnes, TX, and Charlee Reeves and husband, Samuel, of Denver, CO
16 Grandchildren: Gabrielle Egger, Paris Egger, James Egger, Kenny Smallwood, Aspinrose Ludlow, Billings Ludlow, Jasmine Ludlow, Aimee Preston, Jeffrey Brown, Daisy Barajas, Vanessa Barajas, Angus Rodriques, Daniel Brown, Lilia Brown-Casillas, MaKayla Webb and Izic Sivey,
Brother-In-Law: Louis Simmons, Popular Bluff, MO.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sheryl Simmons, Egger grandparents and Madsen grandparents

Memorial services will be held Friday Morning, July 10, 2020, 10:30 A.M. (Mountain Time) at the Trinity Baptist of Benkelman, Nebraska, with Pastor Mike Clements officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Benkelman Cemetery, Benkelman, NE, with full military honors.

A memorial has been suggested to the Egger Family for a future designation.
