Hilda Mae Redden was born July 30, 1923, in Pawnee City, Nebraska, to John and Amy (Prickett) Brant. As a youngster she moved with her family to Southwest Nebraska near Benkelman. Hilda married Peter James Redden on June 3, 1947, in Benkelman, and they lived in several locations over the years, before settling near Wauneta, where Jim and Hilda farmed. They made Imperial their home in 1961.
Hilda was an avid gardener and quilter. She enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren. Hilda was active with the Imperial VFW Post, and was an active cook at the Imperial Senior Center for over thirty years. She was an exceptional cook and husband, Jim, teased her by saying” That was the reason he married her”. She loved the many activities at the Senior Center and was a member of their Birthday Club, Card Club, and Quilting Club. Hilda was a member of the Imperial Bible Church.
Hilda passed away Friday morning, March 18th, 2011, at the Chase County Community Hospital, Imperial. She was 87 years of age.
Survivors Include: Sons: Raymond and wife, Helen, of Cheyenne, WY Robert and wife, Rosalie, of McCook, NE Rex and wife, Kay, of North Platte, NE Russell of East Wenatchee, WA David and wife, Aurelia, of North Platte, NE Daughter: Rhonda Minson and special friend, Gene, of Peace Dale, R. I. 15 Grandchildren: Vance, Heath, Jayson, Phillip, Kristine, Donny Joe, Carrie, Andrew, April, Deavon, Theron, Jomen, Mae, Tyler, and Ethan. 21 Great Grandchildren Daughters-In-Laws: Lora Jaeger of Idaho Gale Redden of East Wenatchee, WA Brothers: Kenneth Brant of McCook, NE Richard Brant, Sun City, CA Sister: Virginia Petersen, Jacksonville, ARK Brothers-In-Law: Pat Redden and wife, Bernice, of Palisade, NE. Max Redden and wife, Mary, of North Platte, NE Herman Redden of Dodge City, KS Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and friends.
Hilda was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Jim, in 1981, Sons: Ronnie and Roger, Brothers; Marvin and Melvin, Sister: Claraceia
Funeral services for Hilda Redden will be held Wednesday morning, March 23, 2011, 11:00 A.M. at the Imperial Bible Church with Pastor Allen Prodoehl officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon, March 22, 2011, 2:00 P.M. – 6:00P.M. at the funeral home in Imperial.
A memorial has been established to the VFW Post of Imperial and the Imperial Senior Center.
