Evelyn Una Sines was born to Lawrence and Una (Lierman) Swanson on September 28, 1930 in Moorefield, Nebraska. She attended school in Curtis, Nebraska and graduated with the class of 1949. Evelyn married Cleith Junior Sines on October 12, 1949 in McCook, Nebraska. The couple resided in Grainton, Nebraska until moving to Imperial in 1962.
Evelyn had a variety of jobs including: Bab’s Cafe, Krazy Dick’s, Sweden Creme, the Imperial Manor and the Imperial Auction Cafe. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary from 1977 to 2014 and while a member, she held a variety of offices. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary where she held numerous offices, including Auxiliary President.
Evelyn also had a variety of hobbies including: quilting, word puzzles and gardening, but her favorite hobbies were taking care of her grandchildren and bowling. She enjoyed bowling for over 45 years.
Evelyn passed away Thursday afternoon, February 12, 2015 at Perkins County Health Services in Grant. She was 84 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Dean “Swede” Swanson; sisters-in-law: Doris Swanson, Virginia Harsch, Edith Sines and LeaOra Sines; brothers-in-law: Gerald Sines, Virgil Sines and Harold Harsch; daughter-in-law, Joyce Sines; 3 grandsons: Justin Sines, Jeffrey Sines and Alan Wagner.
Survivors include: Larry Sines and wife, Rose of McCook, NE Gary Sines of Arizona Jack Sines of Imperial, NE John Sines and wife, Annette of North Platte, NE Carol Brown and husband, Andy of Champion, NE Trisha Oxford and husband, Dave of Enders, NE 16 Grandchildren & 18 Great-grandchildren Brothers: Rodney Swanson and wife, Marilyn of Cozad, NE and Leonard Swanson and wife, Dixie of Curtis, NE Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law, Gary and Carolyn Leitner of McCook, NE Sister-in-law, Mardee Swanson of North Platte, NE Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. (MT) Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial with Pastor David Kahle officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon, February 17, 2015 from 2:00-6:00 P.M. (MT) at the funeral home in Imperial.
A Memorial has been established in Evelyn’s name.
