    Dwight W Egle

    October 26, 1924 - October 10, 2021

    Dwight William Egle was born to Elmer and Ida Egle on October 26, 1924, in Stratton, Nebraska. He attended school in Stratton and graduated from Stratton High School with the class of 1942. Dwight married Wilma E. Williamson on November 8, 1942, in McCook, Nebraska. The couple lived in Stratton and Wauneta, eventually moving to New Lenox, Illinois, in 1960. In retirement, they moved back to Wauneta for several years and eventually moved to Imperial. The past seventeen months he has lived with and been cared for by daughter-in-law, Mary Egle, in Phoenix, Arizona. He enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, reading, and following the financial markets. Dwight was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wauneta and Trinity Lutheran Church in New Lenox. In World War II, Dwight faithfully served his country as a midshipman on the U.S.S. Sullivans. Dwight passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Ridgecrest Health Center in Phoenix. Dwight was preceded in death his wife, Wilma, in 2018, one son, Jerry Egle; one daughter, Kathy Lauffer; one granddaughter, Alicia Lauffer; and parents and siblings. Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Mary Egle, of Phoenix; his son-in-law Wayne Lauffer, of Plainfield, Illinois; his daughter Bobi Hicks and husband Steve of Indian Trail, North Carolina; his son, Pete Egle and wife Bobbi of New Lenox; and twelve grandchildren as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday Morning, October 20, 2021, 11:00 A.M. (MT) at the Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, Nebraska, with full military honors, Pastor Gary Hunt officiating. Visitation will be held before services starting at 9:00 A.M. (MT), Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Liewer Funeral Home of Wauneta. A memorial, in Dwight’s memory, has been suggested to the Egle family for a future designation. Online condolences may be left at Liewer Funeral Home.
