DORIS (HEATER) McDONALD
Doris Loraine (Heater) McDonald was born March 9, 1925, in Stratton, Nebraska, to Percy H. and Lizzie (Huser) Heater. As a young lady she grew up in Stratton moving with her parents to Max, Nebraska, in 1940.
Doris graduated from Max High School in 1942 and returned to Stratton where she began her working career at the Commercial Bank spanning 35 years.
Doris married Elmer W. “Jeff” McDonald in 1947, and was blessed with three children; Jerry, Nancy, and Scott. The couple made their home in Stratton and enjoyed golfing and traveling south for the winter.
Family always came first with Doris and she acted as the “Family Glue” keeping the group together. She was an excellent cook and something good was always cooking in her kitchen. The whole family enjoyed going to Mom’s and Grandma’s for a really good meal. She enjoyed making wonderful pies and cookies that were shared with family and friends. Her cookie jar was always full for the grandkids and great-grandkids which she dearly loved.
In the later years, Doris was involved in buying and selling antiques and after Jeff’s death, would travel to Mexico for a month of sunshine. Doris was a member of the Stratton Community Methodist Church for over 65 years. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Doris was a very “Classy Lady” in appearance and style. She always had great advice and helpful tips.
Doris passed away Sunday afternoon, November 10, 2019, at the Dundy County Hospital, Benkelman, NE. Doris was 94 years of age.

Scott McDonald and wife, Peggy, of Stratton, NE
Daughter: Nancy Fasano and husband, Terence Murphy, of Littleton, CO
7 Grandchildren:
Ryan Fasano (Brooke), Stephanie Edwards, Megan Dudley(Brandon), Chuck McDonald, Matthew McDonald, Katie Lussetto (Patrick), Trisha Livingston (Ryan)
11 Great-Grandchildren:
Isaac Anderson, Elijah Lussetto, Macy Lussetto, Emery Livingston, Ansley McDonald, Morgan McDonald, Amaya Fasano, Giovanni Fasano, Aria Fasano, Dallas Dudley, Jackson Dudley,
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Jeff, brother; Stewart and wife, Gladys, sister; Venus Seybold-Jacoby and husband Jake, niece; Shirley Wicklund.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2019, 2:00 P.M. (Central Time) at the United Methodist Church of Stratton, NE, with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Benkelman Cemetery, Benkelman, NE, at a later date.
No visitation, Doris chose cremation.
Memorials have been suggested to the Dundy County Hospital Foundation, Benkelman, NE and the Community Methodist Church of Stratton
