David “Laddie” Hayes
David Jay (Laddie) Hayes passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012 due to respiratory failure.
David was born October 31, 1923 in McCook , NE. David proudly served in the U.S. Army fighting in the South Pacific during WWII.
Following the war, David married Charlotte Mary (O’Neil) Hayes of Wauneta, NE and they moved together to Southern California . David earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Charlotte and David ultimately settled in El Segundo , CA where they raised their family and resided for over 50 years.
David had a remarkable career in the Aerospace industry, primarily with the Garrett Corporation. After David’s retirement, he enjoyed extravagant cruises with Charlotte and their friends. He was a very generous man who made contributions to the church, the VFW and other charities to help fellow servicemen. David also loved spending time watching his grandchildren’s and UCLA sporting events.
David was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte, sons David and John and granddaughter Elizabeth. David is survived by his sons Randy, William and Brian; daughter-in-law Mary; Grandchildren Lara, David, Kristin, Brian Jr. and George.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick’s Church in Imperial, NE. His final resting place will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial, NE with the burial ceremony immediately following the funeral.
David, a beloved husband, father and grandfather is very much missed by his family and friends. His memory will remain in our hearts with everlasting love.
