    Darrell Evans

    July 24, 1944 - October 16, 2019

Darrell Wayne Evans was the youngest of seven children born to John David and Helen (Nauman) Evans on July 24, 1944. Darrell spent his youth on a wheat farm east of Haxtun, Colorado. Upon graduation from Haxtun High School he attended Northeast Junior College in Sterling, Colorado where he met the love of his life, Terri Donaldson-Willets. Darrell and Terri married on September 1, 1968 and from that union, two became six with the addition of their children LuAnn, Kiley, Martha and Scott. Through the years Darrell worked at Haxtun Feedlot, Schroeder Cattle Company, Nebraska Department of Roads and in his “retirement” as an owner-operator transporting grain to area elevators. Darrell enjoyed assisting his children with their 4-H and FFA projects, going square dancing with Terri, writing poems and short stories, doing illustrations, and attending the various activities of his three grandchildren, Ayla, Cameo and Duncan. After a short stay in the Sutherland Care Center, Darrell joined his wife, Terri and daughter, Martha in the arms of the Lord on October 16, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters. Darrell is survived by his remaining sibling, L. Lorraine Evans of Sterling, Colorado; daughter, LuAnn Rector and husband, Rodney of Wauneta, Nebraska; son, Kiley Evans and wife, Suzy of Laramie, Wyoming; son, Scott Evans and wife, Julie of McCook, Nebraska; grandchildren: Ayla (Frank) Smith, Cameo (Jared) and Duncan. Numerous nieces and nephews and special friend Patricia LaDuke also mourn his passing. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. (CT), Monday morning, October 21, 2019 in the Hayes Center Cemetery with Pastor Jean Miller officiating. Full Military Honors will follow services. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, October 20, 2019 from 2:00-6:00 P.M. (MT) at Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta. Memorials are suggested to the family of Darrell Evans for future designation.
