Patty A. Houghton

Patty Ann Houghton was born October 13, 1944, in Imperial, Nebraska, to Cecil R. and Selma M. (Ohmie) Gardner. Patty grew up and attended school in Imperial, graduating from Chase County High School in 1962. She furthered her education by moving to Denver and attending Parks Business School.

Patty married Richard R. Houghton on November 11, 1973, in Denver, Colorado, where the couple first settled. In 1978, they moved to Enders, Nebraska, owning and operating Laker’s Delight for several years. Patty and Dick then made Imperial their home where they have resided since.

Patty was employed by Mountain Bell Telephone Company while living in Denver. She worked locally at T- Junction, the Jack and Jill Grocery, and Artistic Woodworking. Patty had many hobbies including bowling, coin collecting, completing Sudoku’s and crossword puzzles. Patty especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, sisters, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Patty passed away Friday morning, March 3rd, 2017, at her home in Imperial. She was 72 years of age.

Survivors Include:
Husband: Dick Houghton of Imperial, NE
Daughter: Sandy Coon and husband, Mike, of Rapid City, S.D.
Son: Rich Houghton and wife, Becky, Littleton, CO
3 Grandchildren: Justine McDilda and husband, Ken, Caitlin Houghton and Benjamin Houghton

2 Great-Grandchildren: Seamus and Kieran McDilda

Sisters: Colleen Lynch and husband, Herb, of Lakewood, CO.
Nancy Gardner of Lakewood, CO.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Dean and Don Gardner, and sister; Carol Cunningham.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday morning, March 11th, 2017, 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church of Imperial, with Rev. Melody Newman officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.

No public visitation, Patty chose cremation

A memorial has been established in Patty’s memory.
